MPA HEALTH & SAFETY AWARDS 2026 – Enter Now – Deadline Friday 17 October

With just over a week to the deadline for entry, a reminder that the MPA Health and Safety Awards have been tailor made to enable companies of all sizes to share innovations in technology, processes and leadership that are helping us to transform our industry.

The closing date for this year’s entries to the MPA Health and Safety Awards is Friday 17th October 2025, apart from entries for the John Crabbe Trophy and Sir Frank Davies Award, which is 31st January 2026.

Please ensure that your company participates, whether through a single or multiple entries. Apart from facilitating the effective sharing of your innovations and good practices, so that all may benefit, it is also a wonderful opportunity to recognise the efforts of your employees, gain recognition from your peers, customers, and other key stakeholders.

All the information needed to make an entry can be found on Safequarry.com, where your colleagues will be able to download briefing notes and simple, easy to complete entry forms. This includes details of who is eligible to submit entries.

In addition to the traditional awards, the 7 core topics, ‘The Fatal 6’ Award, Eurobitume Award, John Crabbe Trophy, and Sir Frank Davies Awards, we have introduced a new Outstanding Contractor Award this year.

The Outstanding Contractor award has been added in response to requests from the MPA H&S Committee. It will help to recognise the increasingly important role that contractors play across our business.

The outstanding achievements that individuals have made to your organisation in improving health and safety, can be recognised either via the Young Leader or the Individual Recognition Awards. These awards are not only highly motivating for the individual but also reinforce to all employees the crucial role that we all have in helping to make our workplaces safer.

MPA has launched 4 inland water safety videos to coincide with World Drowning Prevention Day on 25th July. 

The videos are part of a campaign to help raise public awareness about the potential hazards associated with inland water sites such as lakes, rivers, canals, reservoirs and quarries.

More people accidentally drown at inland water sites than at the coast, the videos encourage people to consider the potential risks associated with open water sites and choose to swim in either supervised sites or where it is safe to do so #Respect the water.

The videos also explain what to do in a water based emergency, 'Float to Live' is a vital life saving technique if you find yourself in trouble in the water. CALL, TELL, THROW, are 3 steps to follow if you see someone in trouble in the water.  

MPA is encouraging organisations to share one or two of these videos with their employees and on other networks. Ideally, to encourage employees view and to share them with their friends and family.

The videos also encourage people to practice floating next time they are in a safe environment such as a swimming pool. This is a key theme for World Drowning Prevention Day.

The videos, which are intended for use throughout the year, but particularly during school holidays or periods of unusually warm weather, can be viewed and shared via the MPA YouTube Channel or downloaded as MP4 files.

MPA encourages organisations to share at least one of the videos on their networks, we are all Safer by Sharing.

MPA has published the digital version of the ‘Sharing good practice guide 2024’. The Guide provides a unique summary of the best entries from the 2024 MPA Health and Safety Awards, including the following:

To coincide with the launch of the Guide, MPA is pleased to confirm that it will shortly be inviting submissions for the MPA Health and Safety Awards 2026. The award event will be held in July 2026.
