TITLE  
Fully automated split tailgate door
ARTICLE
An excellent innovation of particular benefit to older drivers and drivers of smaller stature has been put into practice by the Transport Department of CEMEX Aggregates (Eastern). With the willing aid of drivers and feedback from customers, the company has designed a split tailgate, comprising a bottom-hinged gas-ram powered lower section; then a split upper door, the lower half of which is also opened by gas-ram power. Operation of both rams is remote, from within the cab. Apart from the major manual handling benefit, the risk of the driver being hit on the head whilst raising the top-hinged part of a manual split tailgate is also removed.
