As a result, a national contractors database was created. The first advantage of this is that it is very easy and quick to use. Any computers in the company can access the information and can search for contractors according to several criteria.
The system allows for Lafarge to measure the performances of the contractors showing their good and bad practices and assigning them a star rating. If this rating is low they can be put up for review or even suspended.
The benefits are that any manager across the business can see actual reviews of contractors. It has also had a positive impact on contractors who are now coming back to Lafarge to see how they can improve their performances. |
