| Improving the standards of health & safety management in the quarrying sector |
The overall objective is to bring about an improvement in the health & safety performance of quarry operations in the UK through:
1. Improving the underpinning knowledge of quarry managers, supervisors & operators in health and safety management;
2. Investigating the role of human error/behaviour in relation to risk control measures and to implement recommendations to improve;
3. Investigating what health & safety performance indicators can be used in the industry to measure performance to ensure further industry wide targets;
4. Developing a quarry health & safety management system specification, guidance and auditing tool for the quarrying sector to adopt.
