In January, an articulated tipper loaded with aggregates came into contact with the grass verge whilst traveling on a road in Shropshire. This pulled the vehicle off the road, causing it to overturn and collide with a tree, following the accident the cab then caught fire.
The driver climbed out of the cab without assistance but sustained a broken wrist and bruising. Emergency services attended scene and took the driver to the hospital where he was kept in overnight. No other vehicles involved in the incident, the vehicle was written off.
An enquiry concluded the following two factors as the causes of the incident;
- Primary: Driving without due care and attention
- Contributing: Amber weather warning in place
