Paver / Tipper Operations

WHAT HAPPENED

Five Steps to delivering Asphalt into Pavers:

1)Reverse the tipper onto the paver with banks-man assistance. Release the tail board securing ring and bar.

2) Allow spill off to flow into the Paver hopper.

3) Once the spill off has stopped pull the tipper forward a minimum of 3m. Stop the vehicle and open the tail gate fully.

4) Reverse the tipper onto the paver with the assistance of the banks-man.

5) Once in position the tipper can raise the body and discharge the load.

LEARNING POINTS / ACTIONS TAKEN

This procedure removes the hazard of paver Hopper entry, however manual handling remains an issue.
H&S Recommendation that all franchised tippers retro-fit powered tail boards within the next 6 months as this eliminates the hopper entry and manual handling hazards.
Fit to all Tippers within the next 12 months
